Turning Over Stones: The autobiography of a story teller

The author's style of writing is in the form of storytelling, and this current book Turning Over Stones is a collection of stories from personal experiences. Thus the subtitle The autobiography of a writer. The chapters are drawn from short essays written for his congregation when he was senior pastor at the Catalina United Methodist Church in Tucson, Arizona.The title of the book was inspired by an ancient Greek legend in which a king was searching for a buried treasure. When he made no progress in the search he consulted the oracle of Delphi whose guidance was, “Leave no stone unturned.” When he did this he found a wonderful hoard of gold. The phrase has gone through many centuries of use, basically meaning that to discover the treasures of our search we must not give up but try every possible option. In the title of this book Stan Brown has suggested that golden discoveries await all around us in our everyday lives. We simply need to be “turning over stones” to find them. Read more
