Despite their compact size, acorn cups release a surprising amount of beneficial tannins and quickly develop biofilm, making them a favourite grazing spot for Caridina and Neocaridina shrimp, as well as Plecos and Ancistrus. Their natural cup shape also provides excellent micro-hiding spaces for shrimplets and fish fry, helping to reduce stress and improve survival rates in breeding setups.
