The hull was reassembled, the engine fitted at Mannum, and then towed to Blanchetown where the superstructure including decks and cabins was completed. In 1916, PS Captain Sturt, with a 28ft stern wheel, was commissioned as a workhorse, pushing three barges ahead of her laden with granite and other materials. In 1946 the vessel was converted as a houseboat and moored at Goolwa, but by 1997 she was in such a state that the upper decks were removed and the hull filled with cement and became the centerpiece of Captain Steurt's Wharf at Goolwa, where her paddle wheel can still be seen.
