Rebuilt from the captured southerners steam frigate USS «Merrimack». He participated in the famous Battle of Hampton Roads, during which caused heavy damage to wooden ships of northerners, but was stopped by American tower battleship USS Monitor. After an inconclusive battle, both the battleship went. "Virginia" has been involved in several minor operations, but no longer met the enemy. In May 1862, after the southerners were forced to leave Norfolk "Virginia" was destroyed because of the impossibility of evacuation. Simple, but quite an interesting model.
