It is a meticulously blended Chardonnay (around 40%) and Pinot noir (around 60%) cuvée and aged for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars. That, and left for a further 8 months after dégorgement. Fun fact: It was created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II!

Why Cristal is popular is because of its profile - concentrated white fruit and citrus, a creamy mid‑palate from extended lees contact, then a saline, stony finish. Its texture is silky with persistent fine bubbles. It's one that retains youthful acidity even after decades in the bottle.
