Freshwater Bumblebee Goby | Brachygobius doriae

The True Freshwater Bumblebee Goby is a small, colorful fish with black and yellow stripes, resembling a bumblebee. Unlike other bumblebee gobies that need salty water, this species lives happily in freshwater aquariums. They are perfect for small tanks and bring a lot of personality. 

Size and Appearance

These gobies grow to about 1 inch long. Their bright stripes make them stand out in any tank. Males often have brighter colors, especially during breeding times.

Behavior and Tank Setup

Bumblebee gobies are curious and like to explore. They enjoy hiding in small caves and among plants. Each fish may claim its own little spot to rest. They prefer calm water without strong currents.

Feeding

These fish are carnivores and prefer live or frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. They usually don't eat dry fish food. 

Tank Mates

Bumblebee gobies can be territorial, especially with their own kind. It's best to keep them in groups of six or more to reduce aggression. Avoid housing them with long-finned or slow-moving fish, as they may nip at them.
