Two bearded gentlemen, a barrel for a table, and a log cabin in the pines on the back. This is German beer culture captured in ceramic form — made in Japan in the 1960s in the German stein tradition.
The embossed figures are hand painted and glazed in muted browns, beige, blue, and green — the warm, earthy palette of a Bavarian mountain tavern. Embossed on the bottom: "Japan." Highly collectible, and they look wonderful displayed as a grouping with other German-style mugs.
